Distinct things to see and do on your tour

A specialized tour and palace home stay that focuses on the Endangered Heritage, Arts, Art History, Luxuries and Architecture of Jodhpur and Rajasthan, India. Our guests will be immersed into the beautiful and elegant world of our local royal and aristocratic traditions and hospitality while being entertained by us. Our guests will experience activities that include seeing Mehrangarh Fort and the Mandore Palaces, exquisite private art collections, rare Jewels, luxuries that include fine and decorative arts from our region that are hand-made by our erstwhile royal and aristocratic patroned master artists and artisans, lectures and instruction on the processes, art history, and techniques of the fine and decorative luxury arts of India and the importance of present-day patronage for their survival, meals of family recipes of aristocratic local cuisine, accommodation in a private suite with en suite bath and kitchenette in the small jewel-like

Itinerary Day by Day

Day 1

Arrival in Jodhpur, India in the early-to-mid afternoon by train or by flight (both train and flight connections are possible from either Delhi, Jaipur or Mumbai (Bombay) where most International flights arrive in India (we can also organize domestic flight and train tickets, at cost, for our guests). You will be greeted with our traditional aristocratic welcoming ceremony for honourable guests followed by transfer to your accommodation in Jog Niwas Palace just outside Jodhpur for rest and relaxing in the afternoon before dinner and night stay in your private suite with en suite bathroom and kitchenette overlooking the interior gardens.

Day 2

Breakfast followed by a guided tour of the 15th to 18th Century Jodhpur Meharangarh (Majestic) Fort to see the rare royal art collection and stunning carved sandstone architectural facades. Lunch in the bazaar followed by having the famous MakhraniLassi dessert that is made with pure floral perfume oils and buffalo butter in a 100 year old traditional Jodhpur sweet shop. In the mid-afternoon a tour of the museum at the UmaidBhawan Palace where the Jodhpur Royal Family is still in residence. Evening return to Jog Niwas for conversation, drinks and traditional dinner. Night stay in your suite.

Day 3

Breakfast followed by a leisure morning in your suite or around Jog Niwas followed by an 11:00 am two-hour lecture on the Endangered Fine and Decorative Arts of India followed by continental brunch. In the mid-afternoon a spell-binding selection of the royal appointed endangered fine and decorative arts of India, patroned directly from her erstwhile royal appointed master artisans, will be presented and explained. These luxury one-off Indian arts include couture hand-woven and handmade silks, real silver and gold brocades, muslins, precious metal and gem objects, statuary, fine art, luxury accessories, stationary, and a further 50 different royal appointed mediums. 4:00 PM Traditional Low Tea with a selection of the finest single estate selected high grown first flush Darjeeling teas. In the early evening a Royal board game, Chopad, will be explained and a match played. Traditional local cuisine served with aristocratic family label alcohols for dinner followed by conversation and night stay in your suite.

Day 4

Continental Breakfast followed by a leisure morning at Jog Niwas or a swim in the Jog Niwas pool. Continental or Rajasthani lunch followed by a two hour Indian art history course focusing on miniature painting techniques, styles, periods and colours. 4:00 PM Traditional Low Tea with a selection of the finest single estate selected high grown first flush Darjeeling teas. In the early evening relaxing in the gardens or go for a swim followed by traditional local cuisine served with aristocratic family label alcohols for dinner with conversation and night stay in your suite.

Day 5

Breakfast in your suite or on the terrace at Jog Niwas followed by a 2 hour introduction class on South Asian art connoisseurship and the art of South Asian art patronage. An informal lunch during which conversation followed by a further 2 hour class for identifying quality and its control in the arts. 4:00 PM Traditional Low Tea with a selection of the finest single estate selected high grown first flush Darjeeling teas. In the evening drinks in the Jog Niwas garden with conversation while traditional local cuisine is served. Night stay in your suite.

Day 6
