Traditional Home-cooked Rajput Dinners at Jog Niwas

Jog Niwas serves only the most authentic local Rajput aristocratic cuisine in a traditional setting and presentation. No other restaurant or accommodation in Western Rajasthan does. The small jewel-like palace of Jog Niwas is the perfect venue for high culture and etiquette and guests will be served in a traditional manner inside the interior gardens with fountains and architectural beauty or exterior gardens surrounded by lovely peaceful gardens. No dress code is required, we understand your travelling, we are here to pamper and relax you while serving you the finest local cuisine.

Dinner is by reservation only and costs $20.00 U.S. Dollars per person and includes a 3 course traditional meal, non-alcoholic drinks and either Indian high-grown tea or Indian high-grown coffee. Families consisting of 2 adults and 1 or 2 children under the ages of 11 pay only for the cost of two adults ($60.00 U.S. Dollars Total). Families with 1 or 2 children ages 12 to 16 pay a further $10.00 U.S. Dollars ($80.00 U.S. Dollars Total)

The Jog Niwas Dinner Menu

  1. Rabori (a pasta made from the hops flower and buttermilk)
  2. Ker Sunghri(a combination of two rare delicate desert tree fruits)
  3. Lal Mas (red male goat meat simmered and prepared in rare spices)
  4. Khadi (black chickpea pureed with curd, turmeric and mustard seed)
  5. Dal Bati Chorma (four different mixed lentils in spiced gravy served with rounded bread made with molasses)

Served with either chapati flatbread (thin white wheat bread similar to a tortilla)or chilra flatbread (similar to a tortilla and made with chickpea flour)

As a note: No wheat is used in chilra so any of our guests with an allergy to wheatmay safely have chilra bread.

  1. Keri Goonda Atchar (pickled green mango with a rare desert fruit)
  2. Ker Sunghri Atchar (two different rare desert tree fruits pickled)
  3. Care Atchar (pickled capers)
  4. Lassanchutni (garlic paste)

Desert

  1. Ker KerKhand (a molasses and clarified butter sweet)
  2. Keri Poc (spiced pureed mango sweet) (seasonal)

Drinks

Darjeeling first flush high-grown tea served in the English style

South India high grown coffee served with delicate spices in the traditional South Asian style

Bera Sherbet or Bera Soda (a rare floral extract made into syrup that is doused into mineral or soda water and served over ice)

Chandon Sherbet or Chandon Soda (sandalwood extract made into syrup that is doused into mineral or soda water and served over ice)

Gulab Sherbet or Gulab Soda (centafolia roses floral extract made into syrup that is doused into mineral or soda water and served over ice)
